My friend, neighbor and co-worker Dana Shaw has her photographs on display in an exhibit titled “Frozen in Time: Winter on the East End.” The exhibit can be viewed upstairs at the Rogers Mansion, located at 17 Meeting House Lane in Southampton Village. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., and the show runs through January 2.
Fran Oldeack, Warren Smith, Rodger Davis, John Berglin and George Skidmore recently drove over to Cutchogue to visit with former Hampton Bays High School Principal Sam Maneral. Mr. Maneral started teaching in the 1930s and he is 98 years old. He relates many stories about time spent in our school and has a remarkable memory! This group tries to visit him a few times during the year and spent a wonderful afternoon reminiscing about days gone by.

The Sea Side Gift Shoppe is having a Christmas Open House this Friday, December 4, from 4 until 8 p.m., at 39 West Montauk Highway (next to Kreig’s Bakery). The shop has a beautiful selection of contemporary, Southwest and Hawaiian jewelry. Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be served.
The Hampton Bays United Methodist Church’s Christmas Fair is on for Saturday, December 5, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., in the Anderson-Warner Hall. There will be vendors, handmade wreaths, baked goods, a jewelry table, thrift shop treasures and lots more. Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase.
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church is having its Home and Hearth Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 5, from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the church on Ponquogue Avenue. The fair features specialty gifts, holiday greens and decorations, homemade baked goodies and a cookie walk, photo-ops with Santa in the Kiddy Corner, and complimentary refreshments.
The Westhampton Presbyterian Church will host a Christmas Bazaar and Tea on Saturday, December 5, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., at the church on Meeting House Road. Have some finger sandwiches and tea and do some holiday shopping. Children can participate in some fun activities, too.
The Hampton Bays PTA’s Holiday Bazaar will be held over at the elementary school on Ponquogue Avenue on Sunday, December 6. Come have breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. until noon. Visit vendors galore, browse a cookie sale and craft table, and buy your tickets for a Chinese auction. There will also be affordable shopping for the kiddies. Lunch will be available for purchase.
The Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce and Fire Department will cosponsor our hamlet’s annual tree lighting on Sunday, December 6, at 4 p.m., across the street from the firehouse. Following the tree lighting, head on over to the firehouse for hot chocolate and a visit with St. Nick.

The Hampton Bays Public Library is offering an AARP 55 Alive Driver Safety class on Monday, December 7, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. The cost for AARP members is $12; non-members pay $14. Register at the front circulation desk. For more information, call 728-6241.
Tom Humbert, Sister Rosemary Jermusyk and members of the adult choir and the contemporary ensemble will perform a special Advent concert on Monday, December 7, following the 7 p.m. Mass at St. Rosalie’s Church.
The members of the Hampton Bays Beautification Association will next meet on Monday, December 7, at 7 p.m., at the Hampton Bays Public Library. All are welcome to attend.
The Hampton Bays Beautification Association’s Holiday Luncheon is planned for Wednesday, December 16, from 11:30 until 3 p.m., at Oakland’s Restaurant on Dune Road. The price is $30 per person and a cash bar will be available. For reservations, call Phyllis at 728-8027 or Pat at 723-0564.
Southampton Town Senior Services is offering a trip to the Montauk Lighthouse on Thursday, December 17. The cost is $40 and that includes round-trip transportation and dinner at The Lodge Bar and Grill. Call Heather at 728-1235 for more information and to sign up.
The Knights of Columbus will host a Christmas Party on Friday, December 18, from 7 until 11 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Admission is $40 and that includes an open bar, a hot and cold dinner buffet and music performed by the Doug Dwyer Trio. For more information, call Wayne at 728-3356.
