n mid-November, parents took over the school’s computer lab to get their own tutorial in using computers. The first annual Bilingual Literacy Parent Workshop for third and fourth grade families was designed to support parents so they can work with their children on learning outside of school. This workshop “allowed parents to learn strategies to support their child’s literacy learning at home,” said school Principal Bertha Richard. During the evening workshop, parents logged onto computers and were guided through a series of exercises to help promote their computer knowledge and be more comfortable with what their children are learning at school.
The school is collecting new coats and books for children in need this holiday season. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. For more information, please contact Gwendolen Arnzen at 591-4805.
