Bonackers rising up in bowling standings

The East Hampton bowling team has been on a roll lately, literally, improving to 4-1 after wins over Rocky Point and Eastport South Manor last week. The Bonackers beat Rocky Point 33-0 on Tuesday, December 15, at East Hampton Bowl before beating ESM 21-12 at Shirley Bowl the following day.

In the win over Rocky Point, East Hampton won with scores of 991-731, 1,040-823 and 936-823 and had a 2,967-2,342 lead in total wood. Against ESM, the Bonackers lost the first game 1,012-861, but won the next two games 906-871 and 923-741 for a slim 2,690-2,624 edge in total wood.

ESM fell to 3-2 with the loss to East Hampton, which was its only match of the week.

Southampton, meanwhile, has dropped three straight matches after starting the season 3-0. The Mariners lost 27-6 to Southold at the Wildwood Lanes on Tuesday, December 15, and then lost 22-11 to Mt. Sinai at East Hampton Bowl two days later. In the loss to Southold, the Mariners lost with scores of 915-795, 945-923 and 990-892. Southold had a 2,850-2,610 lead in total wood. Against Mt. Sinai, Southampton won the first game 935-891, but then lost the last two games 1,024-899 and 934-923. Mt. Sinai had a 2,849-2,757 lead in total wood.

Westhampton Beach is still seeking its first win after falling to 5-0 with a 28-5 loss to Mt. Sinai at Port Jefferson Bowl in its only match of the week. The Hurricanes lost by scores of 912-701, 864-862 and 821-786. The Mustangs had a 2,597-2,349 lead in total wood.

Individual results from the matches were not available. But at the end of last week, Mt. Sinai was in first place with 118 points in 15 games bowled while Southampton was second with 115 points in 18 games bowled. East Hampton was in third with 96.5 points in 15 games bowled while ESM was fourth with 84.5 points in 15 games bowled. Southold, Westhampton Beach and Rocky Point brought up the bottom three, in that order.

East Hampton’s Brian Pfund has been the standout bowler in the league thus far. As of last week, he had the top average in the league (205.89) as well as the high series (706) and the high game (288). Luke Powers of Southampton held the second highest average in the league (201.83) and had the fourth highest series (657). Patrick Sinclair of Southampton had the third highest series in the league (669) and teammate Eric Miller had the third highest game (266). Zach Laube of Westhampton Beach was fifth in the league for average (190.13) and was tied for fourth in high game (256). Nick Michel and Anthony Ricci of ESM are sixth and seventh, respectively, in the league for average (188.73 and 188.67).

East Hampton was scheduled to visit Southold at the Wildwood Lanes on Monday, December 21, and will face Mt. Sinai at Port Jefferson Bowl on Tuesday, January 5. Southampton and Westhampton Beach will square off at the Wildwood Lanes on the same day. Westhampton Beach and ESM were scheduled to face each other at Shirley Bowl on Tuesday, December 22. ESM will host Southold at Shirley Bowl on January 5. Matches start at 4 p.m.
