The Parrish Art Museum will host a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on Saturday, August 31, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. highlighting Latinx contributions and works of art from the private collection of Mitchell Kaneff and New York Times columnist Bret Stephens.
Open to the public, this event aims to unite the Latinx community and the broader public to celebrate art and the profound influence of Hispanic culture on the arts. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with thought leaders, explore diverse artistic expressions, and enjoy a vibrant cultural experience. It features a panel discussion led by Stephens, with Dr. Mónica Ramírez-Montagut, Parrish Museum Executive Director, and Claudia Romo Edelman founder and CEO of We Are All Human Foundation. The event also features a special art exhibition of work by Annette Nancarrow (1907-1992), an American artist who moved to Mexico in 1935. She worked with notable artists such as Frida Kahlo, José Clemente Orozco and Diego Rivera. Her work spans sketches, paintings, and sculptures, reflecting her vibrant life and connections within the Mexican art scene.
