The Sag Harbor Florist will present a new art exhibition, “A New Dawn” by Rebecca Swanson with an opening artist reception on Saturday, July 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the florist, located at 3 Bay Street in Sag Harbor. The show will remain on view through September 30.
Ms. Swanson’s work is inspired by a childhood in Ohio, growing up with her mother, an avid painter, and her grandmother, an accomplished China painter. A photographer, Ms. Swanson’s work is cultivated by the natural world and its universal fragility and beauty. The artist blends abstract forms of nature with subtle colors to build intimate portraits of individual blooms.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, Ms. Swanson moved to New York where she worked as a textile designer for decades. She has been exhibiting since 1995, and has a number of prints in corporate collections, including in Omni and St. Regis hotels and Banana Republic. She has also photographed Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project gardens and has been collected by East Hampton resident, and famed cookbook author, Ina Garten.
