ArtSprings Studio, a working artist studio and art showcase, will be hosting its second exhibition, “A Plea for the Animals,” featuring work by Scott Bluedorn, Emily Brown, Idoline Duke, Candace Hill-Montgomery, Christa Maiwald, Russell Munson, James Elliott Shelton, Max Siebel, and Barbara Thomas, with a private opening reception on Saturday, July 2, from 5 to 7 p.m.

“A Plea for the Animals” is an unprecedented exhibit of nine established artists — local and international — who express their feelings for the animal world in their work. This is more than a show of political statement, it’s a moving and profound philosophical exploration of the human relationship to animals.

Inspired by the book “A Plea for the Animals: The Moral, Philosophical and Evolutionary Imperative to Treat All Beings with Compassion,” by Buddhist philosopher Matthieu Ricard, each artist explores human relations to animals through print, drawing, painting, sculpture, weaving and sound.

ArtSprings Studio is a working artist studio open to visitors to see the creative process in action. This newly envisioned space is host to interactive art events and projects, surprise art happenings, and classes led by Barbara Thomas, a teaching artist with over 20 years’ experience in leading arts institutions.

ArtSprings Studio in East Hampton is also an art showcase featuring the work of international artists — emerging and established. It is open by private appointment visits and viewing. To visit email info@artspringsstudio.com or learn more at artspringsstudio.com.
