The Depot Art Gallery in Montauk will present “Triple A,” an exhibition featuring work by three artists — Annie Sessler, Alison Seiffer and A.G. Duggan. The show runs August 29 to September 9 and opens with a reception on Saturday, August 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Annie Sessler is well-known for her beautiful gyotaku works — the traditional method of Japanese fish printing — where a freshly caught fish is coated with ink and laid on a surface to make an exact impression. However, in this exhibition, viewers will have a chance to delve into her other creative processes of paintings and mixed-media works. In the summer, Sessler can be found in most outdoor art shows on Long Island and beyond.
Alison Seiffer is an award-winning illustrator and print artist based in Montauk. Her work has appeared in publications such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, Popular Science, Consumer Reports and The Wall Street Journal. She is presently creating limited edition giclée prints based on the beautiful Montauk views. However, in this exhibition, viewers will see her new original paintings on canvas up close and personal.
A.G. Duggan’s mixed media drawings on paper are all about the essences of her natural environment. Whether trees, landscapes or just pure life energy, the quality and power of the line work is a force to be reckoned with.
The Depot Art Gallery is located at the Montauk railroad station at Flamingo Avenue and South Edgemere Street. Hours are Thursdays through Mondays, noon to 5 p.m. For details, visit montaukartistsassociation.org.
