From Iowa to Studio 54 to Wall Street, Roy Halston Frowick, who was known simply as Halston, lived the American dream. Prodigiously talented, he reigned over the fashion industry in the 1970s and became a household name. But everything changed with the Wall Street era. With his empire under threat, Halston took the biggest gamble of his life.
On July 14 at 6 p.m., the Sunday Docs series at Southampton Arts Center presents “Halston,” Frédéric Tcheng’s 2019 documentary about the designer. The screening is presented in conjunction with Hamptons Doc Fest and will be followed by a conversation with former presidents of the Council of Fashion Designers of America Fern Mallis and Stan Herman, along with Halston biographer Fred Rottman.
Admission to the film is $15 ($12 for SAC and Hamptons Doc Fest members). SAC is located at 256 Jobs Lane, Southampton. For more information, visit southamptonartscenter.org.
