An intimate outdoor concert celebrating the iconic works of Giuseppe Verdi will take place at the Leiber Collection on Saturday, August 9, at 5 p.m. The program, titled “Viva Verdi,” features selections from Verdi’s beloved operas including “Il Trovatore,” “La Traviata” and “Rigoletto,” performed by world-class opera singers with piano accompaniment.
Baritone Daniel Sutin and soprano Ashley Galvani Bell will headline the performance, accompanied by pianist Christine Sutin.
Sutin, whose career spans major opera houses across Europe and North America, recently performed as Scarpia in “Tosca” and the title role in “Rigoletto.” He has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Covent Garden and Opera North, among others.
Bell has performed internationally in Italy, Spain, France and Russia. Recent highlights include Fiordiligi in “Così Fan Tutte” in Bilbao, Cio-Cio San in “Madama Butterfly” across five states, and her Carnegie Hall debut. Her documentary film “Rival Queens” won 20 awards at international film festivals.
Christine Sutin has served as musical director and accompanist for a wide range of productions including “Jersey Boys,” “Kinky Boots” and “Sweeney Todd.” She has toured nationally with “Annie,” “A Chorus Line” and other productions, and regularly collaborates with opera companies and vocalists.
