Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor will present the works of two local artists, Casey Chalem Anderson and Katherine Milliken, in a show running August 17 through September 7. A reception for the artists will be held at the gallery on Saturday, August 19, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Casey Chalem Anderson is a Greenwich Village native who passionately creates oil paintings of and inspired by the Hamptons landscape and its natural forms. Anderson splits her time between Sag Harbor and New York City, immersing herself in both natural and urban artistic worlds. She can often be found at the beach, observing the changes in time, color and weather, which manifest on her canvases as a balance between tranquility and visual stimulation. Her paintings are collected by those who wish to access that serenity and the emotional lift of color that her work so uniquely offers. The colors motivate her to create this parallel world in paint. These pieces are a creative interpretation of the ocean, where the artist feels most grounded.
Katherine Milliken is a professional artist and highly experienced educator. She specializes in painting from nature, deriving inspiration from natural, organic forms in the environment. This subject matter comes from her varied experiences outdoors including walking, gardening, horseback riding and safaris. She has exhibited her watercolor and oil paintings at the Southampton Cultural Center, Water Mill Museum, Guild Hall, Gardiner Mill Cottage Gallery, Remsenburg Academy and with the Artists Alliance of East Hampton at Ashawagh Hall.
