East End Arts Is Calling For Artists To Submit To National Juried Exhibition

author on Feb 14, 2017

The East End Arts Gallery in Riverhead is accepting entries through March 28 for its sixth annual National Juried Art Competition and Exhibit.

This year’s theme is “Playing with Perspective” and the guest juror is Sara De Luca, the owner of Ille Arts in Amagansett.

“Skillful use of perspective (or omitting perspective altogether) is a critical component in many great works of art and will be of utmost consideration for the entries accepted into this exhibit,” said East End Arts Gallery director Jane Kirkwood in a statement.

The Best in Show award winner will receive a seven-day stay in East End Arts’ artist residence, plus $1,000 and inclusion in a group show at Ille Arts. The winner will also receive 100 postcards, which will feature the image of her or his artwork, announcing the show.

Artists from the contiguous United States may submit a minimum of three and a maximum of five entries for one $50 entry fee. Any two-dimensional media is eligible, although only original art will be accepted—no reproductions and no appropriated art without crediting the creator in the title. Entries may be submitted online at eastendarts.org. The late entry deadline is April 11, for an additional fee. Entrants will be notified of the final selections by June 2. For complete rules, visit eastendarts.org.

The exhibition will go on display August 4 through September 20 at the East End Arts Gallery. For more information, contact Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood at 631-727-0900 or gallery@eastendarts.org.
