East Hampton Resident Wins Audience Award

“The Opera House” screened to a packed audience on the opening night of the 10^th annual Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival — and swept the competition, taking home the Brown Harris Stevens Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature during the five-day festival.

Directed by Susan Froemke, who lives part time in East Hampton, the film was a favorite of opera lovers, architects and artists alike, chronicling the journey of the Metropolitan Opera House and the controversy over building the new Lincoln Center. For those who missed it during the five-day festival, the documentary will be seen in a MET broadcast scheduled for January 13.

“One of the great joys of being a documentary filmmaker is that each film takes you on a new adventure,” Froemke said. “The idea that you have succeeded in bringing the audience with you is incredibly rewarding.”

Next year’s festival will be held from November 29 through December 3, but the HT2FF’s free “Film + Forum” program, featuring previously screened films and their directors at local libraries, will be held throughout the year. For more information, please visit ht2ff.com.
