Artist Peter Solow will open a new show, “Florence Reconsidered” at the John Jermain Memorial Library, 34 West Water Street in Sag Harbor, with a reception on Thursday, September 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. The show will remain on view through October 18.

The exhibition is a follow up to Mr. Solow’s show, “City Square,” at the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum where using cutting edge technology the artist reprinted his sketches, paintings and photographs to create a life-sized multimedia city square in the space.

The current exhibition, whose content is all about Florence, Italy, is a continuation of my experimentation with process using modern technology,” said Mr. Solow, who is also an art teacher at Pierson Middle High School. Mr. Solow uses large format printers and digital technology to integrated with traditional drawing and painting techniques to create his art.

“This is the same concept that the kids have been playing around with at school,” he said in an email. “The catalyst for the idea came from my daughter's work.”

While some of the artists earlier works will be included in the collection, he said the exhibit is focused largely on work created in the last year.

“An added feature of the exhibition is that one large painting/composite  has purposely been left unfinished,” said Mr. Solow. “My intention is to work on it at the library during the show. Visitors will be able to see the metamorphosis  and transformation of the piece over time illuminating my method of making art.”
