The Southampton Arts Center (SAC) will screen Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi’s harrowing documentary “Free Solo” on Friday, April 12 at 7 p.m. The film was the winner of the 2019 Academy Awards Best Documentary Feature category and it offers an unflinching portrait of the free soloist climber Alex Honnold by following his extensive preparations to climb the face of the world’s most famous rock … the 3,000 foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park … without a rope. It’s an edge-of-your seat thriller and an inspiring portrait of an athlete who exceeded current understanding of human physical and mental potential.

The film is the last in a series of Oscar-nominated documentary screenings at SAC. Admission to the film is $10 ($7 Friends of SAC) at Southampton Arts Center, 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton Village. For details visit southamptonartscenter.org.
