East End Arts & Humanities Council, Inc. has launched its Front Line Heroes Program in collaboration with Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) in Riverhead to show appreciation for essential workers dedicated to their work and community at this difficult time.

The Front Line Heroes Program pairs front line pandemic workers from PBMC with East End Arts’ member artists. The artists create intimate artworks from photographs that are submitted by the front line workers. Photographs can be whatever the workers choose — self-portraits, portraits with others, a happy place, a pet or family member.

Artwork is created in the medium and genre that the artist chooses. There are 10 artists currently participating in the program, creating pieces in oil, charcoal, pastel, and acrylic. The completed works began hanging in the lobby of Peconic Bay Medical Center on May 8, and will be given to the front line workers they were created for once the display is taken down.

Given the success of the Front Line Heroes Program and its partnership with PBMC, Riverhead-based East End Arts is exploring opportunities to collaborate with other organizations in a similar fashion.
