With the kids out of school, the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill has got you covered and is offering two Winter Vacation Art Workshops and a film in the days ahead to keep the little ones happy and thinking creatively.

On Thursday, December 26, from 1 to 3 p.m., Winter Landscape Painting will be offered for ages 6 and up. In this workshop, children will create winter landscape paintings with tempera paint. On December 27, from 1 to 3 p.m., ages 6 and up can take part in Holiday Still Life by creating seasonal drawings. Both classes begin with a gallery tour. The cost of the workshops is $40 ($30 members) each. Space is limited and advance registration and payment are required at parrishart.org or by calling 631-283-2118.

Based on the classic Belgian book series by Gabrielle Vincent, the animated film “Ernest & Celestine” details an unexpected friendship that develops between a mouse and a bear. On Friday, December 27, at 6 p.m., the Parrish Art Museum will host a free screening of the 80-minute film for families. Rated PG, the 2012 film is directed by Benjamin Renner, Stéphane Aubier, and Vincent Patar.

Celestine, the mouse, is an artist and a dreamer — and when she nearly ends up as breakfast for Ernest the bear, the two form an unlikely bond. But it isn’t long before their friendship is put on trial by their respective bear-fearing and mice-eating communities.

“Ernest & Celestine” won France’s César Award for Best Animated Feature, and has been nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 86th Academy Awards.

Admission to the film is $12, or free for Parrish members. The Parrish Art Museum is at 279 Montauk Highway, Water Mill. Visit parrishart.org or call 631-283-2118 for details.
