Miwa Matreyek — animator, director, designer, and performer — will present “This World Made Itself” and “Myth & Infrastructure” on Sunday, June 24, at Guild Hall, located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton.

The Los Angeles-based international touring artist has a background in animation by way of collage, and creates live, staged performances where she interacts with her animations as a shadow silhouette. “A combination of handmade and tech, her work exists at the cross-section of the cinematic and theatrical, fantastical and tangible, illusionistic and physical that weaves surreal and poetic narratives of conflict between man and nature,” according to a press release.

“Prepare to be enchanted when animator and performance artist Miwa Matreyek reprises her mythologically inspired, multimedia-enhanced and visually ravishing shadow plays,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

Miwa Matreyek performs her interdisciplinary shadow performances around the world, including in a TED presentation, and at MoMA, Sundance New Frontier, Lincoln Center, Future of Storytelling, Exploratorium, Adler Planetarium, among others. She received her MFA for Experimental Animation and Integrated Media from CalArts in 2007 and is a co-founder and collaborator of the multi-media theater company, Cloud Eye Control. She is also a recipient of the Creative Capital Award, Sherwood Award and Princess Grace Award.

The performance begins at 3 p.m. and tickets range from $22 to $55, or $20 to $53 for members. For more information, please call (631) 324-0806 or visit guildhall.org.
