Continuing its inaugural year under the leadership of Montauk native Lilah Gosman, and her husband, Miloš Repický, Music for Montauk will present Fall Fantasie on Saturday, November 14 at 5 p.m. at the Montauk School Auditorium.
Ms. Gosman and Mr. Repický, the organization’s artistic directors, have expanded the core collaborative of top tier musicians with three new instrumentalists. Chloé Kiffer, violin, Ani Kalayjian, cello, and pianist Bénédicte Jourdois will join Mr. Repický, a pianist, in a colorful program of chamber music. Conceived as an autumn journey, the Fall Fantasie opens with Bartók’s “Rumanian Folk Dances,” emerging from the misty woods of the Transylvanian mountains with sounds of gypsy fiddles and eerie harmonics. Schubert’s breathtaking “Fantasie” in F minor for piano, four-hands continues the sojourn as the concert’s central, transcendent title work. Beethoven’s “Ghost” Piano Trio in D major completes the journey.
The non-profit will offer the program as a free event, and also plans to present a special version of the concert for children at the Montauk School this Friday.
“We have received overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the community and look forward to continuing to grow the program in 2016,” said the couple in a press release.
