The Nancy Atlas Project and the Fireside Sessions concerts return to Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater with shows on Friday, April 8, and Saturday, April 9. This is the first time Atlas and her band have performed at Bay Street since January 2020.

What has traditionally been a month-long run with at least four shows in January (and for a couple of years in March as well) has been cut back due to ramped-up schedules for both the band and Bay Street Theater now that live performances are on the uptick.

The weekend of concerts will feature the popular band The Nancy Atlas Project (Johnny Blood lead guitar, Brett King bass, Joe Delia keys, Phil Bloom drums) performing with and as back up to special guest artists, Randi Fishenfeld on violin, Danny Kean on keys and vocals, and Clark Gayton (Friday only) on trombone.

Bay Street Theater has promised that starting with the Fireside Session shows both the dance floor and the bar will be open for ticket holders, promising everyone in attendance the kind of Fireside Sessions they’ve all come to love.

It was nine years ago when Atlas brought the band to Bay Street Theater and created “The Fireside Sessions.” Shows featured a rotating lineup of world-class guest musicians. “We’ve worked with so many great sidemen,” Atlas said. “I thought it’d be a great idea to celebrate them and bring some of them to Bay Street for a weekly series of shows.”

On opening night, January 2014, a blizzard threatened the concert, featuring the first guest star, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But nearly all the 300 people who bought tickets showed up. And the “dead of winter” Bay Street series has sold out ever since. She’s sold out over 26 Fireside Sessions in the middle of winter, including three blizzards

The Nancy Atlas Project performs at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9. Tickets are $40 to $50 at baystreet.org.
