On Thursday, August 17, the East Hampton Historical Society and the Village of East Hampton will host an opening reception for the new Dominy Shops Museum. The event, from 5 to 7 p.m., is being held to announce the completion of the restoration/reconstruction of the property by East Hampton Village. The Historical Society has partnered with the village to make the site accessible to the public via guided tours and museum exhibitions.
The opening of the Dominy Shops begins with a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. with participants that include Mayor Jerry Larsen, East Hampton Village Trustees, historic preservation consultant and project supervisor Robert Hefner, village historian Hugh King, and Hilary Osborn-Malecki, president of the East Hampton Historical Society board, and Stephen Long, the historical society’s executive director. The event will highlight the innovative work undertaken by the village to bring the Dominy House and Shops back to its original location, as well as recognize the many people who made that effort possible.
The Dominy Shops Museum is at 73 North Main Street, East Hampton. Visit easthamptonhistory.org for details.
