Inga Maren Otto Fellow Carrie Mae Weems, costume designer, Lexy Ho-Tai and visual artist Lotte Nielsen will be at The Watermill Center, 39 Water Mill Towd Road in Water Mill, for a resident artist spotlight on Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m.

These artists will be in residence from April 5 to 31. During the spotlight, “In Process @ The Watermill Center,” engage with them through open rehearsals, workshops, studio visits, lectures or artist talks. Make a free reservation at watermillcenter.org.

The first Inga Maren Otto Fellow of 2017, Ms. Weems spent the past 30 years developing a body of work that spans artistic disciplines and media. While in residence at Watermill, Ms. Weems will refine her song cycle/performance, “Grace Notes: Reflections for Now,” which examines the role of grace in the pursuit of democracy.

While in residence, Lexy Ho-Tai develops her multi-disciplinary and interactive thesis collection “Kookerville.” Exploring ‘clothing as experience,’ she plans to create three new “Kookers” and focus on the performance aspects of the work. Through “Kookerville,” she explores art as a form of public engagement.

Lotte Nielsen continues her video project “YAOI,” documenting LGBT youth in an abandoned cinema in Copenhagen and at the Watermill Center. Collaging atmospheric footage and sound together, “YAOI” gives a sense of the youth's emotional life in the context of a specific location's character.
