“Salon Series,” the Parrish Art Museum’s classical music program is returning for an eighth season and will expand its roster this fall to include the string quintet, Sybarite5, solo pianists William McNally, Alexandria Le and Nadejda Vlaeva. The series will be held on four consecutive Fridays starting October 7 at 6 p.m.

The “Salon Series” features artists performing in a casual setting that will conjure up the atmosphere of Paris salons. Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet and talk with the musicians after the concerts. On October 7 William McNally will perform; on October 14 pianist Alexandria Le will take the stage; on October 21 string quintet Sybarite5 will grace the Parrish stage; and on October 28, pianist Nadejda Vlaeva will finish the October Salon Series roster.

“Salon Series creates an intimate and interactive environment for master musicians of classical and contemporary music to share their performances in new ways,” Curator of Special Projects Corinne Erni said. “The audience is invited to engage in a dialogue with the musicians and learn more about their creative process and program choices.” This series was co-programmed with Louis Meisel, Concert Artists Guild, Pro Musicis and Yamaha Artists Services, Inc.

Mr. McNally is recognized for his interpretations of classical and ragtime repertoires. The first half of his program features preludes by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. He will also play ragtime works by iconic composers of the time including Scott Joplin, Arthur Schutt, along with new ragtime-inspired works by modern composers Vincent Matthew Johnson, Carter Pann and his own, “Blue Donkey Rag.”

Mr. McNally performed at age nine in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall as a winner of the AMSA World Piano Competition and is the first three-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest’s New Rag Contest. He joined the faculty of Texas State University this fall.

Tickets for “Salon Series” include museum admission and are $20, and $10 for Parrish members. The Golden Pear Café and the Parrish will be open before and after the concerts. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.parrishart.org.
