Who needs the holidays to make giving a priority? The Southampton Historical Museum is hosting a conversation and signing for the book “Jean Shafiroff’s Successful Philanthropy: How to Make a Life By What You Give,” on Saturday, July 2 at 5 p.m.
The book is a real-world guide to contemporary giving, which characterizes philanthropy in a new way, compatible with the needs of today’s world. Most people think of philanthropy as only monetary or material donations, however, Ms. Shafiroff argues contributing today obliges much more than that. Time, expertise and resources can be just as, if not more valuable than monetary compensation. Ms. Shafiroff’s book is meant to help any one at any stage of their giving journey empower themselves to work together to build a better world.
The president and CEO of the Southampton Hospital, Robert Chaloner, will introduce Ms. Shafiroff and a reception will follow.
Admission to the event is free, but reservations are required. To reserve your seat, call (631) 283-2494. The Southampton Historical Museum is located at Rogers Mansion, 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton Village.
