For 22 years, Anthony Celano served as a detective and detective squad commander of the New York Police Department. His expertise in organized crime investigations led to assignments in the Queens District Attorney’s Office Squad and the Colombo Organized Crime Task Force during the Colombo Wars of the 1990s.

Celano is also an author, and on Saturday, January 25, at 1 p.m., he will be at East Hampton Library to discuss his latest novel, “The Case of Two in the Trunk: A Sergeant Markie Mystery.”

The book tells the story of Joe Horse, who has a problem — namely, two dead women on the floor of his living room. Alone and desperate, Horse calls The Mover, and together they devise a plan to get rid of the bodies. When discovered by the police in the trunk of a car the women appear to be polar opposites. One is a tall blond wearing a low cut black evening dress, while the other is a small brunette attired in jeans and a sweatshirt. As detectives search for the truth, they encounter a colorful assortment of characters that include the owner of an escort service, street junkies and a serial killing mob hit man known as The Death Maker. As the bodies begin to pile up, little attention is paid to the case detective who continuously oversteps ethical boundaries.

Now retired, Celano was the cofounder and CEO of the Manhattan-based investigative firm Full Security, Inc. He lives in New York City with his family and devotes his time to writing mystery novels. “The Case Of Two In The Trunk” is his first offering in a series of Sergeant Markie mystery novels.

The East Hampton Library is at 159 Main Street, East Hampton. Books will be available for signing and purchase. Call 631-324-0222 ext. 3 to register.
