Southampton Arts Center (SAC) welcomes September with studio classes, films, Hamptons Jazz Festival and much more. In addition to other events, SAC’s current exhibition, “Change Agents: Women Collectors Shaping the Art World,” curated by Kate Fowle, Folasade Ologundudu and Xiaoyu Weng, closes on Saturday, September 30.
Here’s what’s on deck at SAC this month.
Studio: Figure Drawing - Fridays, September 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 1 p.m.
Working from a live model, artist Linda Capello’s figure drawing workshop will explore techniques of line, mass, gesture, proportion, and foreshortening, starting with short poses and working toward one long pose. Registration is required.
Film: “Encanto” - Saturday, September 2, at 7:30 p.m.
In Disney’s “Encanto,” the Madrigals are an extraordinary family who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called Encanto. The magic of Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift — every child except Mirabel. However, she may soon be the Madrigal’s last hope when she discovers that the magic surrounding Encanto is now in danger.

Southampton Arts Center and Hamptons Jazz Fest present this concert on West Lawn, weather permitting. Bring a blanket or chair. In the event of rain, the event will be held inside the theater.
Film: “Another Body” - Sunday, September 10, at 4 p.m.
“Another Body” is a 2023 American documentary film, directed, written and produced by Sophie Compton and Reubyn Hamlyn. It follows a college student who seeks justice after finding deep fake pornography of herself online.
Film: Surf Movie Night XXI - Friday, September 15, at 5 p.m.
Surfrider Foundation presents Eastern Long Island’s 21st annual Surf Movie Night fundraiser. The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people through a powerful activist network. Rain date Sunday, September 17.
Film: “Kolonial: - Friday, September 22, at 7 p.m.
Commissioned by Baryshnikov Arts Center, “Kolonial” is the final product of a three-year of research project between installation artist Conrad Quesen and Stefanie Batten Bland. An installation-based dance cinematic work, the film is centered inside performative transparent spaces — cages that reveal colonial foundations and mythology.
Live: Southampton Rotary Kickoff Cocktail Party - Friday, September 29, at 6:30 p.m.
The Southampton Rotary Club brings together community leaders to share their ideas for making the community a better place. By combining distinct skills and expertise, Rotarians are tackling some of the communities most pressing challenges — from initiatives like feeding the hungry to helping youth.

SouthamptonFest is a highlight of the fall season, featuring exciting and diverse events that focus on family fun, history and the arts – all designed to showcase the Village of Southampton and its many offerings during one of the most beautiful times of the year. SouthamptonFest is a collaboration between Southampton cultural arts organizations, service organizations, merchants and businesses and the Village of Southampton.
