Southampton Rotary Hosts Inaugural Art Auction May 19

author on May 13, 2016

The Rotary Club of Southampton will host its inaugural Fine Art Auction & Children’s Art Festival on Thursday, May 19, at the Southampton Arts Center featuring works of art at a variety of price points.

Among the artists whose works will be featured in the auction, coordinated by Marlin Art, are Marc Chagall, Norman Rockwell and Andrew Wyeth.

Southampton public school students made collaborative artworks, such as prints, sculptures, paintings and embellished tables, that will also be auctioned. Proceeds will benefit charitable endeavors that Rotary supports in the community year-round.

“There’s going to be some incredible buys on really great artwork that people will want to put in their homes or give as gifts,” Rotarian and event committee member Betsy Nichol said.

There will also be a silent auction, with items donated by numerous community businesses. Ms. Nichol said she is amazed how generous the local stores are. “Just about everyone has said yes. It’s incredible.”

Beau Hulse and deejay Paul Casella will provide musical entertainment.

Admission at the door is $20 per person and includes hors d’oeuvres and dessert donated by local restaurants and caterers. Southampton Publick House will provide a cash bar. Tickets for children under 12 are $10. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a preview. The auction will begin at 7 p.m. Southampton Arts Center is located at 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton Village.
