For those trying to bulk up their summer reading list, two well-known authors can be found enjoying the summer and working on books here in their home, Sag Harbor.
Canio’s Books at 290 Main Street in Sag Harbor will host book talks with Tom Clavin and Alan Furst. Mr. Clavin will appear and celebrate his birthday on July 22 at 6 p.m. with the lecture, “From Page to Screen,” discussing how his historical books become feature films. Mr. Clavin has authored “Dark Noon: The Final Voyage of the Fishing Boat Pelican,” and “The Heart of Everything That Is: The Untold Story of Red Cloud, An American Legend.” He is working on another book, “Lucky 666: The Impossible Mission” that will be released this fall.
The following day, Saturday, July 23 at 5 p.m., Alan Furst, a novelist who writes about espionage will be reading from his newest title, “Hero of France.” Mr. Furst has been identified as a master of the spy thriller genre. This book includes characters that took part in the French Resistance in Nazi-occupied Paris. Some other titles he’s written include “Mission to Paris,” “Spies of Warsaw,” “The World at Night and Dark Star.”
