A Road Bully

Because I love, enjoy and respect Mother Nature so much, I spend at least two hours a day bicycling along Gerard Drive in Springs. Because of its bucolic surroundings and closeness to nature, I feel so much more relaxed and at ease, especially since I was a point man in the canine corps in Vietnam, and I suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.

On Friday, November 1, at around 4 p.m., someone in a black-colored SUV tried to take my love for Mother Nature away from me. Whether his driving was intentional or not, I will teach him some rules of the road he should not forget.

First of all, “Obey the speed limit.” Secondly, “Slow, share the road.” And what should be a new road sign: “Don’t be a road bully!”

Epitaph: We build cars, houses and boats, which use too much oil and gas. If we don’t watch out, we’re going to end up on the seat of our pants.

Dedicated to the men and women in blue who protect and serve me and you.

(This was written at the Springs General Store, a wonderful place to relax and unwind.)
