Dangerous Situation

With thousands of formerly seasonal residents of the East End now staying through fall and, likely, winter, the onset of hunting season may bring unusual challenges, especially during the “shotgun” month of January. Given the renewed popularity of hiking at many area trails, unwelcome encounters could increase.

So far, aside from East Hampton Town Councilman Jeff Bragman’s unsuccessful effort to curtail hunting in that town, no official response has ensued. We can only hope that any forthcoming “culture clash” does not extend to physical harm of two-legged creatures.
