The literature suggests that bluefin tuna are a threatened species. I have to assume The Press is unaware of this literature, or does not believe it or care, given the picture of the dead bluefin tuna that was somehow in last week’s publication [In The Field, Sports, February 20]. The picture of the “Montauk kids” with the bluefin tuna that was barbarically caught and killed is disrespectful and demonstrates disconnect from so many perspectives.
How are we to evolve when unnecessarily killing a sentient being, especially a threatened one, is promoted in the newspaper as normal and something to be proud of?
