The dredging for maintenance of Napeague Harbor is few and far between; 1979, 1988, 2004. The 2014 dredge did nothing more than work the area around the current opening. That sand went right back to Hicks Island.
That was a $700,000 project then. Could have been $2 million 18 months ago to open the east side. Now it has been said it could be closer to $5 million. Keep waiting.
Bacteria levels are already medium on the east and high on the west. Didn’t need another year of study to tell you that.
