Leslie Edward Frank, a resident of East Hampton for the past 17 years, died at his home on January 31, of a heart attack, with his wife, Linda Frank, at his side. He was 71.
Born December 13, 1938, in Brooklyn to Eli Frank and Edith (née Lyman) Frank, he was raised in Seagate, Brooklyn. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged in May 1965. When Mr. Frank married his first wife, Sheila, the couple settled in Massapequa to raise their two children, Robin and Eric.
Mr. Frank attended the Charles Evans Hughes High School and Straubenmuller Textile High School and studied textile design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, all in Manhattan. He later worked in sales management for the Arley Corporation, a high-end bedding design and manufacturing company in New York City. He retired in 2005, after some 20 years with the company.
An avid bicyclist, nature lover and an artist, according to family members, Mr. Frank enjoyed the year-round beauty of the Hamptons. Also, his favorite hobby was collecting marine saltwater fish in a 175-gallon tank.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Sindlinger Frank; a daughter, Robin Frank and her husband Peter Marcus of North Massapequa; a son, Eric Frank and his wife Stephanie of Forest Hills; a sister, Janice and her husband Christopher Noll of California; a granddaughter, Olivia Marcus, 6; and a grandson, Alec Marcus, 11.
An interfaith service officiated by the Reverend Tony Larson and Cantor Debra Stein was scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, at 11 a.m., at Springs Community Presbyterian Church in East Hampton. Interment will be at New Montefiore Cemetery in Farmingdale.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons, 228 W. Montauk Highway, Hampton Bays, NY 11946 would be appreciated by the family.
