The Parade of Spookiness

Every year to celebrate Halloween, students in kindergarten through the fifth grade have a Halloween parade. All the kids in elementary school and some teachers dress up in their Halloween costumes and they march around the school bus loop, which is located in the front of the school on School Street.

Students come to school in their costumes, and if their costume is too big that they can’t sit in it or they can’t fit through the door, they have to pack it and change into it later in the day.

For the fifth-graders, this is the last year they get to participate in the Halloween parade and march with their class.

Fifth grader Sydney Borowsky said that she is going to be Snoopy, with her friend Georgie Guittard. She added that she is happy this is her last year being in the parade because it is usually too cold and she is happy to be moving on to sixth grade so she can participate in the idiom contest.

Ryder Abran, also in the fifth grade, said that he is being a blow up unicorn with his friend Alex Shoemaker. He added that he is sad this is his last year in the parade because he likes walking around with his friends.

The parents come and watch all the kids walk by in their costumes. Additionally, anyone in the community can watch the kids in the parade.

This parade is a big part of Springs School culture.
