The East Hampton Town Trustees have sent a letter to the Suffolk County Legislature supporting a proposed code amendment introduced by County Legislator Ann Welker that would expand the definition of conservation easements to include working waterfronts used by the commercial fishing industry. The code pertaining to conservation easements relates to a process by which the county acquires easements, which limit or restrict development, management or use of property in order to preserve or maintain its scenic, open, historic, archaeological, architectural or natural condition, character, significance or amenities.
