Riverhead, N.Y. (January 12, 2021): The annual Master Gardeners Spring Gardening School, Saturday, March 20 - the first day of spring - will be held virtually for the first time in its thirty-year history, announced Roxanne Zimmer, head of Community Horticultural, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County. Doug Tallamy, author/educator and entomologist will open the Gardening School day- long proceedings with his keynote lecture Nature’s Best Hope. Tallamy will be joined by a roster of speakers well known to the horticultural community.
Zimmer notes: “The three decade-long legacy of the Spring Gardening School is a significant cornerstone of CCE Suffolk’s mission to educate and serve Suffolk county residents about home gardening and community efforts to grow more food.” She continues, “In keeping with pandemic safety guidelines, we will, for the first time ever, host a virtual program for the day. Through live online gardening programs, we can engage garden lovers and green thumbs anywhere.
