Melissa Hin
“I’ve been creating as long as I can remember; it is just something I have to do.”
Melissa Hin resides in Miller Place, New York. Melissa is inspired by color and the emotions evoked through combinations of color and application. Her technique involved layering a multitude of colors and layers in both figurative and contemporary realms. Color, Composition, application of paint and drama dominate Melissa’s artistic expression.
Melissa’s work has been displayed at various galleries and private collections in the United States and the United Kingdom which include New York, London, Paris, Venice, and Torino Italy. Melissa serves as board member for several art organizations and has acted as juror and curator for various exhibits. In 2013, she established MDH Creative Enterprises, a working studio where artists various ages and of all skill level receive instruction fine-tuning their techniques. Melissa is currently signed with a publisher and is working on illustrating a series of children’s books.
Melissa continues working on paintings in both representational and contemporary styles.
Barbara Bilotta
I consider myself an Abstract Expressionist. There is an elemental strength in my images that grounds them, setting up a contrast with the dynamic use of colors and shapes. My goal is to transform the natural order into a suggestive interpretation to stimulate the imagination.
Much of my interpretation is rooted in my color palette. I love everything that is brilliant and incredible and I attempt to incorporate it into my work. This transmits itself through the bright blues, glowing yellows and intense reds that often punctuate my images, drawing the viewer’s eye into the patterns I create. I also use a whole range of subtler shades, rendering soft fields of pastel color that fade into white, or areas of rich browns and blacks. One of my goals is to bring out a beautiful interplay of light and shadows, and is it is this which gives my images a palpable sense of physicality, even at their most abstract.
The surface of my paintings is also the result of an intriguing contrast. I work mostly in acrylics glazed with resin, and the acrylic’s softness and the resin’s hardness combine to create a “charged atmospheric space” in which the viewer is made to feel the movement of the paint.

Artist Statement
Katherine’s on-going Earth/Water Series explores bodies of water from local ponds to rivers and oceans. Her studies are testaments to the preciousness of our natural resources. The vibrant colors and patterns in her almost abstract works are produced through available light, fast shutter speeds, reflections, and shifting wind patterns on the water. Her images are single exposures with minimal manipulations. The process of waiting for the right winds and light can take weeks to months to capture a single image.
