Please join us on Sunday, July 28 at 4 pm as Megan Chaskey reads from her beautiful book of poetry, “Birdsong Under the Wisdom Tree, Collected Poems, A Book of Hours in the Life of a Poet,” as part of our current exhibition "Connie Fox and William King ~ Entangled," on view at The Leiber Collection.
The book combines a lifetime of poems, journal entries, and memoir that “traces the development of her poet’s sensibility and voice grounded in her experience growing up in an artistic family in the various places she has lived including New Mexico, Vermont, and Cornwall, England to the East End of Long Island.” Its cover showcases a painting by her mom, Connie Fox. She also pays tribute to her stepfather, William King, who inspired several of her poems. “Bill King was such a warm supporter of my poetry,” Chaskey explained, “and the inspiration for this book from the beginning.”
Also join us on Sunday, August 11 at 4 pm when Scott Chaskey will read from his recent book, “Soil and Spirit, Cultivation and Kinship in the Web of Life”.
Megan and Scott will share stories of Connie and Bill, their life, love, and art.
Also on view at The Leiber Collection, ‘Judith and Gerson Leiber ~ Over The Top’ showcasing over 500 of Judith Leiber's dazzling designs and a selection of Gerson Leiber's fabulous Fashion paintings that were shown and sold in the Judith Leiber Handbags showroom alongside each new line of handbags. Gerson Leiber often said, “Judy shattered glass ceilings before glass ceilings were even a thing.” This exhibition celebrates Judith Leiber's creative genius and unassailable vision.
In the Leiber Collection Sculpture Garden, you will see works by some of the most talented contemporary artists making art here on the East End. Our Fifth Annual Garden of Friends exhibition includes Monica Banks, Scott Bluedorn, Perry Burns, Philippe Cheng, Jennifer Cross, Eva Faye, Donna Green, Sandi Haber Fifield, Candace Hill Montgomery, Laurie Lambrecht, Jill Musnicki, Bastienne Schmidt, Sabina Streeter, Amy Wickersham and Almond Zigmund.

The Collection is free and open to the public from 1 pm to 4 pm every Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday, and at other times by appointment. Donations to the Judith and Gerson Leiber Foundation are welcomed but not required.
