Dear Sag Harbor Schools Community:
On November 3, 2022, school district residents voted to authorize the district to access $3,325,000 currently held in reserve funds to complete the purchase of five vacant lots on Marsden Street. As noted prior to the vote, phase II of the district’s development plan for the lots is conducting community outreach.
The first of a series of community forums addressing the development of the Marsden Street properties will take place on Wednesday, December 21 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Pierson library. For those residents unable to attend, the meeting can be accessed using the Zoom link below.

The meeting will address:
● A summary of the current status
● Architect review of Marsden properties and possible designs
● Community question/answer session
● Discussion of next steps
Discussions between The Town of Southampton Community Preservation Fund Manager and the school district resulted in the Town Board authorizing a contribution of $6,000,000 towards the purchase of the lots. In order to receive the contribution, the school district agreed to develop the lots into athletic fields to be used by the community when not in use by the school. Questions should focus on the agreed upon use.
All questions must be submitted via email to community@sagharborschools.org prior to Tuesday, December 20 at 9:00 am.
Submitting questions in advance will provide district representatives with the necessary time to prepare so they can answer thoroughly. Each submitted question should include your name and address. Additional questions from in-person attendees will be addressed if time allows.
I look forward to seeing you on December 21.
Sincerely,
Jeff Nichols
Superintendent of Schools
