Galerie Mitobo, The Hamptons’ trailblazing gallery for cutting-edge international contemporary art, invites you to the opening of its August exhibit: "Magic & Material"
Galerie Mitobo’s second Southampton exhibit presents new large-scale works on metallic paper by duo Tis & Vitaly, and proudly welcomes two new artists to the gallery’s collections: Brooklyn-based Rachel Goldsmith and her enchanting circular wall sculptures, and Rwandan artist Moise Izabiriza and his mesmerizing tapestries made out of tailors’ measuring tapes.
Goldsmith is a world-renowned pioneer of the use of 3D printing pen technology to produce sculptures out of corn-based bioplastic, merging high tech and unmatched elegance in distinctive circular works that look like no other.
Izabiriza, one of the rising stars of Africa’s futuristic contemporary art scene, creates spellbinding tapestries made of woven and sewn measuring tapes that combine the rich texture of fabric and the glimmer of metal in a sea of printed numbers.
Tis & Vitaly unite photography and technology in their radiant, musical artwork on metal, textiles, and specialty papers, blending the sophistication of Franco-Belgian design with Brooklyn’s spirit of bold, engaged art.
Please join us for this new celebration of surfaces and materials at Galerie Mitobo, The Hamptons’ trailblazing gallery for cutting-edge international contemporary art.
