"Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere – Living Well with Kidney Disease"
World Kidney Day takes place on March 11, 2021 World Kidney Day is a global health awareness campaign focusing on the importance of the kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems worldwide.
For the past nine years, Health & Awareness has taken an active role in raising kidney disease awareness and early kidney disease prevention in Hampton Roads. In 2019 we physically took an active role in over 100 workshops, presentations, and health fairs. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we were required to adjust our training to fit the safety needs of the community and result in Zoom and Live Facebook training. Adjusting our workshops for the uninsured, underinsured, and low-income, and seniors to include everyone. The problem we ran into most did have or could no longer afford WiFi internet service. Working with the local colleges, churches, and seniors residents wee were able to work out a way to arrange for workshop training in smaller groups.
You are invited to attend our first virtual campaign from the comfort of a place of your choice. using your mobile phone, computer, or tablet. For those without internet can use a landline telephone to ask questions of the health providers on the panel. explain the importance of early detection and what things to be aware of. Professional health providers will explain why early detection is important, how to take an active role in your health care to win the battle of Chronic kidney disease. CKD is a progressive loss in kidney function over a period of months or years.
The panelists will consist of a Nephrologist, Kidney Dietician/Nutritionist, Pharmacist, Diabetic Doctor, Lab Technician, Organ, Tissue Coordinator, and representation from Hampton Veteran Medical Center.
