Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center will host “It Takes Our Village” on Saturday, June 29th from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Mulford Farm (10 James Lane, East Hampton). Inspired by the community of East End non-profits coming together to provide enhanced programming, “It Takes a Village” celebrates these amazing partnerships that have truly enriched the offerings at Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center and at no additional cost to the families. The evening will celebrate Amber Waves Farm, East Hampton Library, Springs Food Pantry, The LVIS Garden Club of East Hampton and Paddlers for Humanity. This collaborative group of local non-profits embodies the theme “It Takes a Village” to raise a child with a shared commitment to enriching the lives of East End families. The cocktail fundraiser will celebrate this collaboration honoring these community partners that have contributed to the hands-on learning programs at the center.
“We are so thankful for the partnership of these amazing local non-profits who have enriched the hands-on learning programs for our kids. They truly embody the spirit of ‘It takes our village,’ proving we all have a role to play in nurturing the next generation. We are so excited to announce the first recipient of ‘The Eleanor Prize’ to an individual who, like Eleanor, creates meaningful opportunities for our diverse community members to thrive,” shares executive director Tim Frazier.
As well, a new award will be unveiled, The Eleanor Prize, named in honor of the center’s namesake Eleanor Whitmore, who worked tirelessly to make childcare more than daycare, but a center of excellence in early childhood education for the children of working families.
The summer event will feature a live bluegrass style band, Pete & the Stray Dogs. Catering from the Clam Bar will be provided, and beverages including Summer in a Bottle donated by Wolffer Estate Vineyard, pre-mixed coconut water based cocktails donated by Sunboy and spirits donated by Montauk RumRunners. Sponsors for the fundraiser include: Cruz Brothers Construction, East Hampton Pool Shark and Whitmores.
