Collected from the many regions of China, Blue Pipa Trio's compositions are inspired by Chinese folk, regional operas and Taoist music. The pipa master/vocalist/composer Min Xiao-Fen and her trio – with Steve Salerno on guitar and Dean Johnson on bass - will perform a program which reinterprets the work of legendary jazz trumpeter Buck Clayton, Chinese composer Li Jinhui, Count Basie and Duke Ellington, resulting in a bold cutting-edge Chinese fusion.
