Monarch Butterflies Find Sanctuary at Halsey House

Description:

The Monarch butterfly, one of the most iconic species in North America, plays a central role in efforts to protect pollinators. Many in Southampton have witnessed the annual migration of monarch butterflies who land in Southampton on a day in September on their way from Canada to Mexico. Now, The Thomas Halsey Homestead on South Main Street has been certified as a Monarch Butterfly Waystation by Monarch Watch. Speaker Angie Babbitt is communications coordinator for Monarch Watch and holds a masters degree in environmental studies from the University of Kansas. Her talk is co-sponsored by the Southampton History Museum and the Rogers Memorial Library. If you need assistance setting up Zoom, contact techsupport@myrml.org.
