Hike Leader: Paul King III, South Fork Natural History Museum (SOFO) Environmental Educator
The Promised Land is a section of Napeague State Park home to one of the most unique looking Long Island habitats. Sandy soils, scraggly pitch pines, and abundant cacti give it an almost desert-like appearance in places. The trail through this area also meanders by the ruins of an old fish factory, the story of which is an important chapter in Long Island’s history. Join us on this winter walk into one of the South Fork’s most fascinating areas.
