Editor, curator T. Anthony Roulette presents a reading from the anthology Souls of Queer Black Folk.
The book grew out of a three-panel discussion during Black History Month on the City College of New York campus from 2014-2017. The book also traces its roots to the first black LGBTQIA course, Black Art in the Age of AIDS, offered in 2013 in the Black Studies program.
Contributors range from black queer gotham vampires to black Baptist and Episcopal clergy discussing church politics and its closet. Academics, professional writers, clergy, and undergrad students contribute a robust variety of stories, lived experiences, and histories of black queer people and help regenerate their importance.
