PAINTINGS' PARADOX and AMY ZERNER
Two exhibitions on view April 15 - April 30, with a joint reception for both exhibitions on Saturday, April 22, 6 to 8 PM. There will also be a book signing and art talk for Amy Zerner on April 15, 6 to 8PM.
Paintings' Paradox: with works by Darlene Charneco, Janet Culbertson, Audrey Flack, Dan Rizzie, John Torreano, David Slater, Darius Yektai, and others.
Painting differentiates itself from other visual art forms by its emphasis on the 2-dimensional plane. The paradox: paintings are also sculptures. They are physically 3-dimensional, made from a wide variety of materials from paint, canvas and stretchers to materials such as wooden balls, glitter, gold leaf, sprays, paint tubes, nails, and more.
RECLAIMED, The Oracles and Archetypes of AMY ZERNER is an exhibit that celebrates interdisciplinary artist Zerner’s re-use, re-purposing, and resurrection of a unique collection of materials into strikingly imaginative collages in her pioneering, NEA award-winning Magic Surrealism style, as well as her reclamation of the Divine Feminine in her imagery, which she has been exploring since the 1970’s.
