The Peconic Land Trust is offering two gardening education events at its Bridge Gardens in Bridgehampton this month.
“Natural Medicines from the Herb Garden” on Saturday, August 7, will include an intimate tour of the Bridge Gardens herb garden with horticulturist and herbalist Angus Towse. Mr. Towse will share the medicinal properties of common garden and landscape plants and how to use them. The event runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Then, on Tuesday, August 17, from 3 to 4 p.m., “Growing and Enjoying Fruiting Plants in Your Landscape” will include advice on planting fruiting trees, raspberries, blueberries and currants. Garden Director Rick Bogusch and Paul Wagner of Greener Pastures Organics will discuss plant selection, installation, care and pruning and will answer guests’ questions.
Admission to either event is $10 and preregistration is required. To register, call 631-283-3195, extension 17, or email events@peconiclandtrust.org. Leave your name and a call-back number.
Additionally, Mr. Wagner will continue to offer free lawn care advice weekly at Bridge Gardens to homeowners and professional landscapers. He is on hand every Tuesday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. until October 5.
