Bridge Gardens Opens For The Season

The Peconic Land Trust’s Bridge Gardens in Bridgehampton opens for the season on Saturday, March 31. The gardens will be open on Saturdays and Sundays now through Memorial Day, with free admission on opening weekend.

Additionally, in celebration of National Public Gardens Day, the gardens will offer free admission again on the weekend of May 11 through 13. And new this year, works by the artists of Plein Air Peconic will be on display in the garden house on Saturdays.

The Bridge Gardens lecture series is currently under way. Upcoming speakers include: Scot Medbury from Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Sunday, April 1; Christian Duvernois and Jacob Lange from CD Gardens on April 22; and a special roundtable on sustainable design with Ed Krug, Carolyn Tierney, Peter Sabbeth and Kati Curtis on May 20.

Additional talks are planned from May through December. On May 12, it will be “Vegetable Gardening 101” with Rick Bogusch and Jeff Negron. Other topics include: “Small Space Gardening” with Mr. Bogusch on June 16, “Garden to Table for Children” with Ellen Greaves on July 18, “Five Senses Garden Walk for Kids” with Jeff Negron on July 21 and “Garden to Table Cooking” with chef and cookbook author Silvia Lehrer on August 17, to name a few.

Coming up, Mr. Bogusch will host tours of the gardens the first Saturday of each month, beginning May 5. And “Sculpture in the Garden: Uncommon Ground III” will open in early June, with a meet the artists reception planned on July 21.

Later in the summer, the “Fridays at Six Music in the Gardens” series begins on August 3. Scheduled to perform this year are Charles Certain and Friends, Jim Turner, and Joe Hampton and the Kingpins.

Bridge Gardens will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. through Memorial Day weekend, when extended hours will be offered. Admission is $10 for adults and $20 for families of four or less. Seasonal memberships are also available.
