An East Hampton Town Police Department public safety dispatcher has been suspended by the Town Board after being arrested and accused of striking a police officer in New York City in January. The dispatcher, Patrick Harden, was suspended for 90 days without pay by the Town Board on Thursday, March 21. The resolution for his suspension, which was approved unanimously, said that Police Chief Michael Sarlo had informed the board that he intends to bring disciplinary charges against Harden for violating departmental conduct requirements. William A. Donnelly, 42, who has been convicted four times previously of felony charges, spent the weekend in county jail in Yaphank after being arrested by East Hampton Town Police on a new felony charge, grand larceny in the fourth degree. According to police, Donnelly, who has recently been living in Springs, entered a property on Springs Fireplace Road a little after midnight on February 17 and stole a quantity of scrap metal valued at over $1,000. An Amagansett woman, Samantha Camila Cardenas, 28, was arrested Friday by East Hampton Village Police at the bank she was working at on Newtown Lane on two unrelated charges of grand larceny, both felonies. Cardenas, police said, had recently started working at the bank. On February 15, police allege, Cardenas stole $4,000 in cash from a fellow worker. The fellow worker had placed her handbag in an area in the bank where the employees eat their lunch and snacks during breaks. An East Hampton man pleaded guilty to raping a preteen girl and is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in prison and 15 years of post-release supervision, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney announced on Wednesday, February 14. A 15-year-old with autism spectrum disorder who was reported missing by East Hampton Town Police on Wednesday morning, January 17, was located Monday afternoon, January 22, at Penn Station by Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police. That ended a multijurisdictional search for the youth, according to Detective Ryan Hogan of the East Hampton Town Police Department.
