Parrish Art Museum’s Landscape Pleasures Heads To The North Fork

The Parrish Art Museum’s annual Landscape Pleasures weekend is coming up with North Fork garden tours on Saturday, September 11, and a symposium at the museum in Water Mill on Sunday, September 12, with award-winning horticulturist Patrick Cullina and renowned landscape designer Deborah Nevins.

The self-guided tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will stop at the Landcraft Garden Foundation in Mattituck and Winds Way Farm in Jamesport, plus the private gardens of Conni Cross and Ugo Rondinone. Maps will be provided upon registration.

The following day, the symposium will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mr. Cullina — a horticulturist, landscape designer, photographer, lecturer, and organizational consultant with more than 25 years of experience in landscape design — will discuss sensitive integration of plants and materials into a diverse range of compelling designs, drawing inspiration from the both the natural world and constructed environments. Ms. Nevins, whose New York-based firm creates landscapes around the world, will discuss using indigenous plants that are in harmony with local ecology.

The weekend is a benefit for the Parrish Art Museum and also includes an opportunity for cocktails at Fairwind, the Southampton Village garden of Audrey and Martin Gruss, with specimen trees, a cutting garden, an orchard, a succession of garden rooms and outdoor contemporary sculpture. The party runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 11.
